Maputo, Mozambique, 8 Aug – Norway’s financial assistance to Mozambique next year will rise to US$ 79 million, Maputo’s minister of planning and development said Thursday.
In a statement, the ministry said Norway’s direct budget support will be US$ 26.4 million next year and targeted at specific sectors and projects.
Oslo’s assistance to Mozambique increased from US$ 19.6 million in 2007 to US$ 24.1 million in 2008. Besides helping to fund Maputo’s state budget, Norway is also supporting its health, energy and fisheries sector.
Over half Mozambique’s state expenditure is financed by 19 donor states and organizations including the World Bank, IMF and African Development Bank. (macauhub)
