Angola: 1030 kilometres of roads rebuilt in Bié province

17 September 2008

Cuito, Angola, 17 Sept – Around 1,030 kilometres of roads are currently being rebuilt in Angla’s Bié province, the province’s director for Public Works and Urbanism, João Marques Banco, told Angolan news agency Angop.

Marques Banco noted that of the stretches under reconstruction, 730 kilometres were inter-provincial roads and 300 kilometres were inter-municipal roads.

According to Banco asphalt was already being laid on some of the roads, including the one linking Huambo to Cuito, whilst others were being levelled in order to later be asphalted.

He also said that repairing these stretches of road was part of the national reconstruction programme and was funded by the central government. (macauhub)
