Mindelo, Cape Verde, 24 Sept – The new passenger terminal at Sao Vicente airport in Cape Verde is due to go into operation Thursday following a ceremony attended by the Minister of State, Infrastructure, Transport and Telecommunication, Manuel Inocêncio Sousa.
According to cape Verdean news agency Inforpress, the director of Sao Vicente airport, Nuno Santos said that the international airport’s inauguration was scheduled for the first quarter of 2009, just as soon as the certification process is complete.
On Thursday, a TACV flight is scheduled to arrive at the airport from the capital city of Praia, and as of then domestic flights will be launched at the new passenger terminal.
Of the facilities that are currently in use, the control tower, the meteorology section and the aircraft fuel supply services will be maintained.
According to Santos, the new facilities are modern and functional and, thus able to offer passengers a quality service.
The new air terminal extends over an are of around 11,000 square metres and can process 500 passengers per hour. (macauhub)
