Luanda, Angola, 26 Sept – The second phase of Luanda shopping centre, Belas Shopping, is due to begin in 2009, with construction of 64 stores, new leisure and entertainment areas, the centre’s marketing manager, Irmala Sousa said Wednesday in Luanda.
The shopping centre, which opened in March 2007, was a project implemented by Angolan company Hogi Investments (70 percent) and Brazilian company Odebrecht (30 percent).
“We first plan to finish the six stages of the project, in Luanda Sul, and only then, with return on investment guaranteed, we can move on other regions of the country,” said Sousa.
Belas Shopping, in the Angolan capital, was deigned with six stages and, according to Sousa only the first stage has so far been finished, which includes 100 stores, eight cinema screens, restaurants and children’s entertainment areas.
The second stage of the project will include an upper floor with escalators leading up to it, glass elevators, and larger stores with leisure and entertainment areas.
Belas Shopping created 5,000 (direct and indirect) jobs and is expected to create twice that with its expansion. (macauhub)
