Brazil: EDP Energias do Brasil and Petrobras to work together in power generation

Salvador, Brazil, 29 Oct – EDP Energias do Brasil Tuesday in Salvador signed a deal with Petrobras to carry out studies for a hydroelectric, wind power, biomass and natural gas generation, the chief executive of EDP Brasil said.

António Pita de Abreu, CEO of Energias do Brasil, a subsidiary of Portuguese group EDP Energias de Portugal, said that the two companies would now make efforts to identify and make investments in power generation assets feasible.

The memorandum of understanding was signed as part of the Luso-Brazilian summit, which took place on 27 and 28 October, in Salvador, Bahia, in the presence of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and Portuguese prime minister, José Sócrates.

Energias do Brazil is a holding company that controls distribution companies, Bandeirante (Sao Paulo), Escelsa (Esprito Santo state) and Enersul (Mato Grosso do Sul), as well as generation companies, EDP Lajeado, Energesy and Enerpeixe, and sales company Enertrade. (macauhub)
