Praia, Cape Verde, 20 Nov – Portugal is the country with the biggest number of companies taking part in the 12th International Cape Verde Fair (FIC), taking place until Saturday after opening its doors Wednesday in the archipelago’s capital, Praia, officials said.
Of the 124 companies occupying 180 units at this edition of FIC, in the former Praia airport facilities, Portugal is represented by 51 companies, followed by Brazil with 30 and the Canary Islands with 11 companies.
The 51 Portuguese companies represent sectors such as construction materials, food products, machinery, house and garden and publishing and paper, amongst others.
The growing interest in the fair was apparent this year due to the number of companies that requested to take part far exceeding the places made available.
The 12th edition of FIC has seen the number of participating companies grow by 33 percent as compared to the previous year.
The fair’s organisers expect around 9,000 visitors, which is a rise of 20 percent compared to the 2007 fair.
FIC is held every year and sells from food products to services and industrial equipment. (macauhub)
