Angola: Angola Telecom to restructure its services

Malanje, Angola, 25 Nov – Angola Telecom plans to complete the digitalisation of its telephony system over the next few years in order to meet the demands of the modernisation of its system that is underway, according to the company’s chairman, Manuel Avelino.

Avelino, who was speaking during the company’s 16th consulting council, held in Malanje, said that as part of the modernisation of its services Angola Telecom would expand its communication network and install a wireless telephony system using fibre optic cables.

Avelino said that the fixed-line operator currently functioned across the country’s 18 provinces and in most of them restructuring work was underway as was the integration of a new workforce.

In relation to Malanje, Avelino said that the province would be interlinked to the country’s other provinces via a fibre optic connection.

He noted that for that interlink to be established the first phase of the project connecting the area to Luanda, was currently underway experimentally. (macauhub)
