Angola: Huambo plans to build three mini hydroelectric plants within 18 months

Luanda, Angola, 26 Nov – The government of the Angolan province of Huambo plans to build three mini hydroelectric plants within 18 months in order to solve the problems of production and supply of electricity in the region, the director of the office for studies and planning of the Huambo provincial government said Tuesday.

According to Henrique Mendes Teixeira, who was speaking to the press at the end of an audience granted by the provincial governor of Huambo to the director general of German engineering group Gauff Engineering, Helmut Gauff, the minin hydroelectric plants will be built in the municipalities of Bailundo, Catchiungo and Longonjo.

Teixeira said that within 18 months the German company would draw up studies, projects and build the facilities.

The chairman of Gauff Engineering said that in this first contact with the Huambo province authorities the group had manifested its intention to work in the areas of construction, Refurbishment of water supply networks and mini hydroelectric plants.

In Angola, Gauff Engineering has already carried out feasibility studies in various provinces across the country, in areas linked to hydroelectricity. (macauhub)
