Luanda, Angola, 9 Dec – The Secil Lobito cement factory expects to produce 360,000 tonnes of cement next year, as compared to 240,000 tonnes this year, according to the factory’s chief executive, Victor Rodrigues.
Speaking Friday to Angolan news agency Angop, Rodrigues said that in order to boost production the factory’s pumping and pulverisation system would be modernised.
Rodrigues also said that there were plans to build a new cement factory in Benguela, construction of which was due to begin in the first quarter of 2009 and also included construction of a clinker oven, Which would make it possible to reduce clinker imports.
The factory, construction of which is due to begin in the first quarter of 2009, will take three years to build.
According to Rodrigues, the two factories will place around 1 million tonnes of cement on the Angolan market each year.
