Huambo, Angola, 19 Dec – Angola’s deputy industry minister, Kiala Ngone Gabriel, has announced that preparatory work on an industrial complex in the town of Caala, 23 kms west of Huambo, will get underway in 2009.
Gabriel said Thursday that preparation of the complex is part of a national program to re-launch the industrial site, aimed to boost levels of internal production, lower poverty and create employment.
The Caala industrial complex, he added, has been planned by the Angolan Ministry of Industry for many years but has been delayed for many reasons including the country’s long civil conflict. The project will be developed in stages and is scheduled for completion in 2012.
Viability studies, selection of consultancies, preparation of laws to set up a company, screening of investors, environmental impact studies, which could later be sent to banks for possible funding, are all scheduled to be carried out by June 2009, said Gabriel. (macauhub)
