Benguela, Angola, 29 Dec – The road bridge over the Cubal River in Angola’s Benguela province, which is 140 metres long, is due to open up to traffic in May 2009, newspaper Jornal de Angola reported Monday.

Ricardo Molin, an official of EPCOP, which is inspecting the construction work carried out by Portuguese construction company Conduril, said that pillar work had already been completed.

According to Molin the French company that built the bridge’s platform will now be responsible for putting it in place on the pillars.

The new bridge over the Cubal River, which is expected to cost US$10 million funded by the Angolan government, will be able to support a maximum weight of 60 tonnes. (macauhub)
