Luanda, Angola, 30 Dec – The Angolan government is due to start construction in 2009 of a new airport in the municipality of Kuito Kuanavele, in the province of Kuanda Kubango, said an official from Cuban company Imbondex.
The company has just finished provisional rebuilding work on the Kuito Kuanavele airport runway.
Nestor Soares Hernâni said that surveys were underway with a view to building the future airport in that municipality of southeast Angola, but gave no figures or deadlines for the work to be concluded.
In October Imbondex finished refurbishing 15,000 square metres of the current airport including construction of a new terminal building and rebuilding the runway in order to allow it to be used by Angolan airlines.
The work, which took 60 days, gave work to 100 Angolans and 35 Cubans. (macauhub)
