Taipei, Taiwan, 30 Dec – Agricultural and speciality products from central Taiwan are being exhibited in Macau between 9 and 12 January with the aim of promoting tourism to the island’s central region, the exhibition’s organisers announced.
The products are from Taichung, Chungua and Nantou and will also be exhibited in Hong Kong prior to being taken to Macau.
The Mayor of Taichung, Jason Hu said that, “due to direct air and sea links between Mainland China and Taiwan there are an increasing number of tourists from Hong Kong and Macau visiting the island.”
“We plan to promote the central region of Taiwan as a tourist centre in order to attract more visitors and more business,” said Hu.
The mayor also said that, “similar activities carried out in Hong Kong in 2007 brought an additional 20,000 tourists from Hong Kong.” (macauhub)
