Portugal: Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries meets in Lisbon to boost business between member nations

Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, 5 Jan – The Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries (CPLC) in 2009 plans to promote a series of events and adopt a number of measures to boost the business climate between member countries, the President-elect of the CPLP Business Council, Guinea Bissau’s Braima Camará told Portuguese news agency Lusa.

Camará, who is also chairman of Guinea Bissau Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, called for greater “structural and economic articulation,” in order to improve the business climate.

At the first event, which is scheduled to take place in Lisbon between 29 and 30 May and in partnership with the Luso-Brazilian Foundation, the bases of a new framework of cultural and business policies will be launched.

For 28 and 29 September the 5th Corporate Business Meeting in the Portuguese Language is due to take place, in Fortaleza, Brazil.

“A website will be created to link all member countries via a business network and four annual events will be held, which will take a number of companies to a business meeting and allow for them to communicate amongst themselves,” said Murteira Nabo, of the Portuguese Association for Economic Development and Cooperation in the CPLP Business Council.

The next Business Council meeting will take place on 12 March, in Bissau, the capital of Guinea Bissau.(macauhub)
