Praia, Cape Verde, 9 Jan – The Arab Bank for Economic Development of Africa (BADEA) is to fund projects to make use if the hydrographical basins of Alto Mira (Porto Novo) and Ribeira da Torre (Ribeira Grande) on the Cape Verdean island of Santo Antao, according to Cape Verdean news agency Inforpress.
The Environemnt Minsitry delegate in Santo Antao, Orlando Freitas, told Inforpress that BADEA had approved funding for the projects, which aim to make use of the potential water and agri-silvi-pastoral resources of the Alto Mira and Ribeira da Torre valleys.
BADEA’s initial investment was set at 300 million Cape Verdean escudos for Alto Mira and 600 million escudos for Ribeira da Torre.
The Ribeira do Paul basin is also being restructured, as part of the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) Programme. (macauhub)
