Maputo, Mozambique, 15 Jan – The Cahora Bassa Hydroelectric facility in Mozambique’s Tete province, will this year undergo refurbishment work on some of its infrastructures, said the advisor to the board of directors of the Cahora Bassa Hydroelectric dam (HCB).
Speaking to Mozambican newspaper, Notícias, Henriques Silva said that the modernisation programme, for which he gave no costs, included the sectors of the dam itself and the sub-station.
Silva said that an engineering project such as HCB required maintenance and modernisation, and this was the reason for the projects that were to be carried out.
The advisor said that modernisation of the southern electricity generation plant had recently been concluded.
Henriques Silva also said that the first year of Mozambique’s ownership of the dam had been positive, adding that the dam was producing power to its full capacity and selling its entire production on to its customers.(macauhub)
