Luena, Angola, 19 Jan – Nine bridges are set to be built this year along the Luena-Lucusse road in Angola’s Moxico province, by Chinese company Sinohydro Corporation Limited, the provincial director of the Angolan National Roads Institute (INEA), David Tito said Thursday in Luena.
The bridges will cross the rivers Luena, Muximuji, Dala, Mulanguelo, Canaji, Lucivi, Luando, Lukokoha and Lucusse, along a 133-kilometre perimeter to the south of the city of Luena.
Tito said that work at the Canaji and Lucivi rivers had begun in November 2008 and was part of a central government programme to build and recuperate road infrastructures.
The same programme includes recovery of the bridges over the rivers Ninda-Cassanga, Nego, Luaty, Luce and Lucula I and II, in the municipality of Bundas.
Without giving details of the cost of the project, Tito noted that the recovery, expansion and asphalting of the 133 kilometres of road linking the city of Luena to the Lucusse commune had been halted since October due to heavy rains.
Tito said he had guarantees from the Chinese construction company that the work started in June 2008 would be re-launched in April and May of this year, after the end of the rainy season. (macauhub)
