Brazil: China is Brazil’s second largest trade partner

Brasilia, Brazil, 10 Feb – China has overtaken Argentina to become Brazil’s second largest trade partner after the USA, said the Ministry of Development, Industry and Overseas Trade in Brasilia.

In 2008 Brazil’s total exports and imports with China grew 56 percent to US$36.443 billion, and for the same period, trade with Argentina rose to US$30.5 billion, an increase of 24 percent.

Brazil’s trade with the USA increased by 21 percent last year to US$53 billion.

Among Brazil’s three main trade partners, China was the only one to export more than it imported, reaching a balance of US$3.6 billion after US$1.8 billion in 2007. (macauhub)
