Mozambique: Italy pays for recovery of two institutes in Boane

Maputo, Mozambique, 13 Feb – The Italian government has donated US$386,000 for the recuperation of the Boane Agrarian Institute (IAB) and the Umbeluzi Pedagogical Institute (IPU), both in the district of Boane some 40 kilometres from the capital, Maputo, the project’s coordinator told Mozambican news agency AIM.

Vadinho Paulo, Of the Ministry of Education and Culture, said that the partial recovery of the IAB was expected to cost US$95,000, and the remaining US$291,000 would be sent on the total refurbishment of the IPU.

The two projects were granted to Mozambican company Marcleusa in the presence of the Italian ambassador, Carlo Lo Cascio. Woprk on the IAB is scheduled to take four months and those at the IPU six months.

Paulo also told AIM that the total refurbishment of the IPU included painting and renovation of the electrical system ,water supply and sewage system and work was due to begin within two days. (macauhub)
