China: Energias de Portugal and Stanley Ho create clean energy company

Macau, China, 20 Feb – Portuguese group EDP – Energias de Portugal and Macau businessman Stanley HO have set up EDP-Energy Solutions Asia, a company focused on the clean energy market in the People’s Republic of China, according to a statement from the economic and trade department of the Chinese embassy in Portugal.

The new company will provide “consulting services for management of clean energy solutions,” the statement said also noting that 60 percent of the capital belongs to EDP and 40 percent to the group led by Stanley Ho.

As well as providing “technical assistance, consulting and operational management services to Chinese companies,” the new company will also “function as an observatory for investment opportunities in the country.”

EDP Energy Solutions Asia was set up in Macau although its operating headquarters are in Beijing.

With this new partnership, EDP is boosting its position in Asia where it operates with a 21 percent stake in Companhia de Electricidade de Macau. (macauhub)
