Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 27 Feb – Brazilian oil company Petrobras Thursday launched production on the platform ship, Cidade de Niterói, in the Marlim Leste field, in the Campos basin, the company said in a statement.

The Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel will be able to produce up to 100,000 barrels of oil per day and 3.5 million cubic metres of gas.

The vessel is located 120 kilometres off the coast and is linked to 10 production wells located at a depth of 1,370 metres, nine of which produce oil and the other produces gas.

“This project has additional importance, in terms of oil exploration, as it is the first commercial accumulation of carbon reserves, located above the pre-salt layer, in the deep waters of the Campos basin,” Petrobras said.
