Maputo, Mozambique, 18 March – Mozambique’s ProCredit bank is to open its second branch in the city of Nampula, raising the bank’s total number of branches in Nampula province to three, Mozambican newspaper Noticias reported.
The paper cited Carla Abrantes, the bank’s chief executive, as saying that by opening the third branch in Nampula the bank now had a total of 20 branches across the country.
ProCredit, which currently has 19,000 customers, has committed to introducing agri-livestock credit along with others such as retail and home loans this year in Nampula.
Banco Procredit is part of a worldwide network made up of 22 banks, which operate in countries in Eastern Europe, Latin America and Africa and focuses on so-called developing countries and economies that are in a transitional phase.
The bank focuses on providing loans to very small, small and medium-sized companies, as according to its policy it is theses businesses that create the most jobs and provide a vital contribution to economies. (macauhub)
