25 March 2009

Porto Novo, Cape Verde, 25 March – The cape Verdean is “very soon” due to launch the public tender to award the contract for construction work to expand and modernise the Port Novo dock, a source from national ports management company, Enapor told Cape Verdean news agency Inforpress.

The Enapor source assured Inforpress that everything was being done to carry out the Project, which is part of a programme that has been implemented over the last few years, with a view to improving port services in Santo Antao.

This programme has already been responsible for a new adminsitrative building, a port warehouse, a roll-on/roll-off ramp and a new Access road to the port.

The port, after the Project is carried out, will have the capacity to receive large ships, container ships, conventional cargo ships and cruise liners.

The work is expected to cost around 20 million euros. (macauhub)
