Benguela, Angola, 25 March – Some 334 metres of the 438-metre deck of the road bridge over the Catumbela River in Angola’s Benguela province has so far been completed, Angolan news agency Angop reported.
The project, which is the responsibility of a consortium made up of Portuguese companies Mota-Engil and Soares da Costa, and which began in May 2007, is due to be concluded next July.
The bridge will be 438 metres long and its road will include a shoulder of 1.2 metres and two lanes, one 3.3 metres wide and the other 3.5 metres wide.
The project also includes two 1.5-metre sidewalks for pedestrians, making the bridge a total of 24.5 metres wide.
Two viaducts provide Access to the bridge, one on the left bank of the river that is 90 metres long and the other on the right bank, which is 60 metres in length. (macauhub)
