Luanda, Angola, 15 April – The price of cement and other construction materials in Angola is likely to fall in the short to medium term due to new factories opening in the market, the Angolan Minister for Industry, Joaquim David said in Luanda Monday.
Speaking to Angolan news agency Angop on the sidelines of the National Housing Conference, David said that the government had a master programme for revitalisation of industrial hubs, which should, partially contribute to solving the country’s housing problems.
He said that the government was focusing on initiatives that would lead to new cement, metal work, ceramics and wood factories in order for prices for these raw materials to fall considerably, in the short and medium term.
As well as members of the Angolan government the meeting was attended by construction specialists and members of civil society, diplomats in Angola and provincial governors.
Promoted by the Angolan government, the “1st National Housing Conference” is part of its strategy to implement the National Urbanism and Housing programme and aims to gather opinions about the success of government projects in the real estate sector. (macauhub)
