Mozambique: ADB funds water supply in Niassa

Maputo, Mozambique, 16 April – The African Development Bank (ADB) plans to fund with US$20 million the modernisation and expansion of the water supply system in the cities of Lichinga and Cuamba in Niassa province, according to Mozambican newspaper Notícias.

The project, which includes installing small laboratories to test water quality, is due to be launched in three months’ time, the paper said.

The water supply system in the city of Lichinga was set up in 1957 for 5,000 people and currently the provincial capital of Niassa is home to 142,000 people. (macauhub)
