Angola: Government approves 4th phase of reconstruction and expansion of Luanda’s electricity grid

Luanda, Angola, 30 April – The Angolan government approved the draft contract for the IV phase of the reconstruction and expansion project for Luanda’s electricity grid on Wednesday, according to Angolan news agency Angop.

The government also authorized the Luanda Electricity Company (EDEL) to sign contracts with the China National Machinery & Export Corporation and the consortium made up of Progest – Projectos Técnicos, Consultoria e Gestão, Lda and Engimais and with Engenharia e Consultoria, Lda, for the construction and supervision respectively.

The project will see the electrification of Boavista, Viana-Vila, Viana Caop, Morro Bento, Zango, Ramiros and Benfica, including the construction and installation of substations for these areas.

The construction contract stipulates that the sub-contraction of national companies is obligatory, up to 30 percent of the value of the contract. (macauhub)
