Paris, France, 7 May – Direct flights between Paris and the Cape Verdean island of Sal are due to begin in October, officials of XL Airways and its subsidiary Heliades said in the French capital Tuesday.
The flights, which will initially be offered between 23 October and 30 April, will be once a week, every Friday, using a Boeing 737-800 with 189 seats.
“Cape Verde is a Wintyera dventure, to start off with, that we are going to try to extend to the rest of the year,” said teh chairman of XL Airways, Laurent Magnin, during the presentation of the plan.
Heliades, which has been operating for 34 years, is the main French tour operator working in Greece, a market in which it is a specialist, and plans to play a similar role for the Cape Verdean archipelago.
“We want to diversify, open up a second destination, and become true Cape Verde specialists, just as we did with Greece, and we plan to focus on that starting this Autumn,” said the managing director of Heliades, Jean Brajou. (macauhub)
