Mozambique: Germany provides funding for Mozambican development

11 May 2009

Maputo, Mozambique, 11 May – Germany plans to increase its financial support for several development programmes in Mozambique and increase its budgetary aid over the next three years, a senior official of the Foreign Affairs Ministry said in Maputo.

Santos Álvaro, assistant directof at the Foreign Affairs Ministry for Europe and the Americas said that although the consultation process with the German Economic Cooperation Ministry was still underway, “it is certain that there will be no reduction in the aid to Mozambique.”

The meeting to evaluate bilateral cooperation between Mozambique and Germany aimed, according to Álvaro, to examine the level of execution of activities agreed in 2007 and set out activities for the next three years.

Germany’s aid to the Mozambican state budget totals 35 million euros, not including investment in several development programmes. (macauhub)
