Lisbon, Portugal, 20 May – Portuguese construction company Mota-Engil sis setting up a consortium with local and international partners to compete for the plan for construction of mini-hydro facilities in Angola, said Jorge Coelho, the company’s chief executive.
On the sidelines of the Portugal-Angola Economic relations Conference, Coelho said that Mota-Engil was also about to open a ceramics factory in Angola, Novicera, and would also launch a project to produce nails, wire and steel netting.
“We are preparing to set up a consortium to compete for the mini-hydro facilities, with local and international partners, but it’s not closed yet,” said Coelho, adding that, “the Angolan state’s plan is enormous and we want to compete for some of them.”
Angola accounts for 15 percent of turnover at Portugal’s largest construction company, but Coelho said this amount was likely to increase this year, despite giving no indication of how much.
The Mota-Engil group has been present in Angola since the company was founded over 60 years ago. (macauhub)
