Cape Verde: Government promotes International Companies, Employment and Entrepreneurship Fair

Praia, Cape Verde, 29 May – The government of Cape Verde said Thursday in Praia that it planned to promote, at the end of June, the 1st International Companies, Employment and Entrepreneurship Fair, and initiative focused on combating unemployment on the archipelago.

At a joint press conference in Praia, the Cape Verdean ministers for the Economy, Fátima Fialho, and Employment, Madalena Neves, noted that unemployment, which currently stands at close to 18 percent, was “one of the main problems” on the archipelago and therefore, “one of the priorities,” of the government of José Maria Neves.

The fair, which will be held between 26 and 28 June in Praia, aims to help to promote economic growth of the country and development and training of human resources.

With this in mind, and before the official announcement of the fair, the Institute for Employment and Professional Training (IEFP) and the Agency for Business Development and Innovation (ADEI) signed a partnership protocol, with a view to coordinating policies to promote new jobs and creation and equipment of micro, small and medium-sized companies in Cape Verde.
