Uíge, Angola, 3 June – Chinese company China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) is rebuilding the national road that links the Angolan city of Uíge to the municipality of Maquela do Zombo, Angolan news agency Angop reported.
Reconstruction work on the road, as well as the Negage-Bungo section, began in 2008, is estimated to cost US$79.6 million and is due to be concluded in 2010.
The minister for Public Works, Higino Carneiro, visited the project’s workshop along with national directors from his ministry, from the Angolan National Roads Institute (INEA), the Mota-Engil group and officials from China’s CRBC.
Wednesday, which is the last day of Carneiro’s visit, the minister will visit the municipality of Sanza-Pombo, 156 kilometres from the capital of Uíge, where he will inspect reconstruction work carried out on the section. (macauhub)
