Reconstruction of Damba aerodrome in Angola concludes in July

Luanda, Angola, 16 June – Reconstruction work on the runway at Damba aerodrome in Angola’s Uíge province, is due to be concluded by next July, municipal administrator, Sebastião Muanza said in the provincial capital, the city of Uíge Monday.

Muanza told Angolan news agency Angop that that asphalt had started to be laid Monday on the 600-metre runway, after the second layer of cement had been laid, as part of it refurbishment project started in November 2008.

The contract, which is the responsibility of Angolan construction company Kissari Lda, includes levelling the land, laying asphalt and creating a new drainage system.

The project also includes construction of an administrative building, a hangar and an aircraft fuel deposit.

With the end of the Angolan civil war, in 2002, many projects with a social impact are being built in the municipality of Damba, which is contributing to improvement in the living conditions of the local population, which is estimated to total 182,000 people. (macauhub)
