Sumbe, Angola, 18 June – Dutch companies Herreme and Cembir Maritime Construction plan to invest US$160 million in the construction of a ship yard in the municipality of Porto Amboim, in Angola’s Kwanza Sul province, Angolan news agency Angop reported Wednesday.
The agency said that construction of the ship yard would provide assistance at sea for Angola’s oil and gas industry, and the yard was expected to be operational in June, 2010.
The provincial governor of Kwanza Sul, Serafim Prado thanked the Dutch company for choosing the region for the investment and added that the project would be of significant value to the province in terms of development.
This is the second ship yard to be built in Porto Amboim. (macauhub)
