8 July 2009

Luanda, Angola, 8 July – A refrigerated warehouse is due to be built, in the short term, in the Angolan province of Kwanza Sul, in order to make it possible to unload and conserve fish, the deputy fisheries minister, Vitória de Barros Neto said Monday in Luanda.

The deputy minister, who was answering questions from members of the 5th Commission of the National Assembly on activities to minimise the difficulties felt by local fishermen, also said that, “teh Fisheries Ministry’s action plan includes construction of the Kikombo port terminal and a warehouse in Kwanza Sul.”

According to the deputy minister, construction of these facilities, “does not mean that the Government has forgotten the province’s big project that is large fishing company Peskwanza, which has severe infrastructure problems.”

She said that in terms of the fisheries sector it was seen as necessary to resolve the province’s serious problem with the construction of these refrigerated warehouses, whilst studying possibilities to restructure Peskwanza.

The parliamentary session organised by the 5th Commission was also attended by members of the Government responsible for the ministries of Industry, Oil, Geology and Mining, Transport, Public Works, Hotels and Tourism, as well as the State Secretariat for Water. (macauhub)
