Angolan government focuses on Luanda International Fair to boost agri-livestock sector

14 July 2009

Luanda, Angola, 14 July – The 26th edition of the Luanda International Fair (Filda), held from Tuesday to Sunday, is being attended by 680 companies from 28 countries, the president of the organising body, Matos Cardoso said Monday in Luanda.

Noting that technical and human resources condition had been set up for the launch of Angola’s largest business meeting, M;atos Cardoso said that the theme of this year’s Filda was “For increasingly sustainable development in 2009 agri-livestock is our focus.”

The president of the Luanda International Fair (FIL) said he hoped that the fair would awaken the interest of both Angolan and foreign businesspeople to the opportunities available in the agri-livestock business, as it is a profitable business segment.

He said that the choice of the agri-livestock sector as the theme for the 26th edition of Filda was due to the need to encourage national production and its diversification, with a view to building a sustainable economy that is increasingly less dependent on oil.

Filda is a business fair which each year, since 1983, brings together Angolan and foreign entrepreneurs to exhibit products and services as well as establishing contacts for business. (macauhub)
