Macau, China, 20 July – Gaming and gambling activities in Macau fell 12.4 percent in the first half of the year to 51.427 billion patacas (US$6.428 billion) year on year, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (GICB) said.
VIP baccarat in the period remained the main generator with posted revenue of 33.116 billion patacas and baccarat, including mini baccarat, totalled 11.703 billion patacas, which accounts for 867 percent of all Macau’s casino revenues.
Casino revenues, in their turn, accounted for 99.1 percent of total gaming sector which also includes greyhound and horse racing, Chinese and instant lotteries and sports bets.
In the second quarter, casino revenues totalled 25.408 billion patacas, having fallen 2.3 percent against the first quarter.
At the end of the first half there were 32 casinos in Macau, 19 of which are owned by Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, while Galaxy owns five, Venetian owns three, Wynn owns one, Melco owns two and MGM owns one. (macauhub)
