Luanda, Angola, 23 July – General Cable Portugal, which exports electrical cables to several countries, plans to invest US$20 million in setting up a production unit in the Angolan province of Benguela, the company said Thursday.
According to Portuguese news agency Lusa, General Cable Portugal plans to launch the commercial part of the project in August and start manufacturing cables next year in Catumbela.
“Focusing on setting up ‘Cable´ in Angola, it seemed obvious to use that we needed to move ahead. After setting up a commercial warehouse, the project to set up a conductor factory in the Catumbela industrial hub is underway,” Duarte said.
“The location is ideal as it is in the centre of Angola, it has a sea port nearby and has all the necessary conditions to set up a factory,” said Duarte. (macauhub)
