Luanda, Angola, 4 Aug – Joaquim Kapango Airport in Cuito will be inaugurated at the end of this month, Candida Celeste, governor of Bié province has announced, quoted by newspaper Jornal de Angola.
The newspaper added that the work, budgeted at US$14 million, had begun five years ago and on completion would have a runway 2,700 metres long and 60 metres wide, compared with the 2,500 and 30 metres before.
Bié province is in central Angola and has nine towns, including the capital Cuito, spread over an area of 70,314 square kilometres.
The alternative for medium- and large-sized aircraft for the province has been the aerodrome at Andulo. (macauhub)
