Maputo, Mozambique, 7 Aug – The Mozambican government has approved a series of tax benefits in the IT and communications sectors, according to Maputo’s Notícias newspaper.

Quoting the Science and Technology minister, Venâncio Massingue, the newspaper added that the tax benefits were a way of attracting investors in these sectors.

One of the first to benefit was South African company Sahara which, in partnership with Mozambican investors, has started assembling computers in Mozambique to be sold locally under the Dzowo brand.

In real terms, the company set up in Mozambique to assemble the computers will benefit from reduced customs duties on importing parts and components. (macauhub)
