UK, Italian and Canadian firms win Millennium Challenge Account tenders in Mozambique

Maputo, Mozambique, 12 Aug – The companies Scott Wilson from Britain, Techniplan of Italy and RJ Burnside International of Canada have won tenders launched by the Millennium Challenge Account, the US body said in a statement.

RJ Burnside is the second Canadian firm to win a Millennium Challenge Account tender after Cowater International and will be involved in a US$ 4.3 million water resources project in northern Mozambique.

Scott Wilson, in turn, has been awarded a US$ 3.8 million project to repair and build highways and Italy’s Techniplan has also won a tender to rehabilitate and construct highways in a project valued at US$ 5.2 million.

The Millennium Challenge Account launched a number of tenders at the start of the year seeking firms to coordinate and carry out economic viability and environmental impact studies as well as engineering projects, among other activities.

The Millennium Challenge Account – Mozambique signed an accord with the Mozambican government for a US$ 500 million project over five years in the northern provinces of Cabo Delgado, Nampula, Niassa and Zambezia. (macauhub)
