24 August 2009

Luanda, Angola, 24 Aug – Two new commercial ports are due to be built in Angola, in the 2009/2013 period, in order to speed up the unloading, customs process and delivery of containers of goods, the deputy Transport minister said Friday in Luanda.

José João Kuvingua, who met with members of parliament from several commissions of the National Assembly, in the facilities of the Commercial Port of Luanda, said that one of the ports, which will be built in Luanda, in Baía, already has prospecting surveys concluded and the implementation area has been outlined.

“We want to build a large port in Luanda, which may even serve other ports on the African continent, based on the strategic geographical position that Angola has in Africa.”

Another port, he added, would be built in Cabinda province, where currently studies of the location are being carried out. (macauhub)
