Cape Verde privatises management of ports in 2010

11 September 2009

Lisbon, Portugal, 11 Sept – The government of Cape Verde plans in 2010 to move ahead with the privatisation of port facilities, according to Portuguese newspaper Diário Económico.

Rui Cardoso Santos, chairman o Cabo Verde Investimentos, told the newspaper that “although Cape Verde concluded its privatisation programme over the last decade we still have airline TAICV and ENAPOR, the Cape Verde port management company.”

The Cape Verdean government’s strategy is to start the process of privatisation of port management, whilst for the flagship airline no schedule has been set for privatisation.

Rui Cardoso Santos told Diário Económico that in 2010 it would be possible to move ahead with this operation for the ports, “as there has been interest shown by several investors, including some from Portugal.” (macauhub)
