General Electric and Esso Angola sign oil deal

Mombassa, Kenya, 16 Sept – US company General Electric (GE) has signed an agreement with Esso Exploration Angola, a subsidiary of US oil giant Exxon Mobil Corporation to supply equipment for oil well drilling in deep waters according to the PANA news agency.

According to the terms of the contract, GE’s oil and gas company will provide Esso Exploration with undersea drilling equipment for the Kizomba oil fields, a new production area in deep waters.

With the new equipment the Angolan company will be able to transport oil from the Kizomba fields, located in block 15 in the south-eastern Atlantic Ocean.

In line with the localisation strategy, a large proportion of the material will be produced and assembled in Angola, where GE’s oil and gas company has invested in a production and services complex as well as a training centre. (macauhub)
