Tourism rises 60 percent in Angola in 2008

Luanda, Angola, 16 Sept – Around 300,000 tourists visited Angola in 2008, a rise of around 60 percent against the previous year, according to official figures published in Luanda.

According to the statistical bulletin of the Angolan Hotel and Tourism Market, to which Angolan news agency Angop had access Tuesday, 294,258 tourists were registered, or 99,528 more people than in 2007.

The bulletin, produced by the Hotel and Tourism Ministry, noted that 129,838 tourists were European, 63,752 from Asia and 59,358 were form the Americas (North and South).

Tourists from Africa totaled 38,059 people, with 1,860 from the Middle East and 1,391 from Australia. (macauhub)
