Maputo, Mozambique, 28 Sept – By the end of the year Mozambique’s capital city, Maputo will have an further 5,000 hotel beds to meet tourist demand, Mozambican newspaper Notícias reported.
A source from the Tourism Ministry announced that an Afrin group hotel with 98 rooms (around 128 beds) was due to open in Maputo, at an investment of US$14 million.
Also according to the same source another hotel named Fénix is due for conclusion soon and Hotel Universo will be refurbished.
Mozambique currently has 17,000 hotel beds and employs 37,000 workers in the sectors, half of whom are women.
In 2008 around 1 million tourists visited Mozambique. (macauhub)
