Maputo, Mozambique, 29 Sept – Mozambican state oil and gas company ENH has launched a tender to draw up the blueprints for construction of the gas network and pipeline between Matola and Maputo, Macauhub has learned.
The gas distribution network is to be built in the city of Maputo and district of Marracuene, in Maputo province and the gas pipeline will be built between the cities of Maputo and Matola, where most of Mozambique’s industries are located.
The Matola Gas Company (MGC) is a Mozambican company which transports, distributes and sells natural gas that is produced in Mozambique as a source of energy to power industrial units in Maputo province.
The company, which was founded in 2004, already operates a similar gas transport service in Mozambique.
MGC manages a natural gas pipeline that is just over 100 kilometres long, with a capacity to transport 8 million gigajoules of natural gas per year.
MGC’s gas pipeline ends at the Ressano Garcia border post («between Mozambique and South Africa) from where it is fed by the gas pipeline running from the gas production fields in Temane.
The gas is then piped to South Africa. (macauhub)
