Maputo, Mozambique, 30 Sept – Mozambican electricity company Electricidade de Moçambique (EdM) is due to expand the Temane natural gas-fired power plant with a view to increasing the electricity supply to the towns of Vilanculos and Inhassoro, in Inhambane province, Mozambican newspaper Notícias reported.
The two areas, which do not have access to Mozambique’s national grid, will get a boost to their installed capacity, which was previously around 1.8 MW to 5 MW.
The Plant will have 4 new generator groups.
The first group was installed in February of this year and the second is expected to start operating by the second week of October.
The cost of this project to expand the Temane power plant is estimated at 124.5 million meticals 8around US$4.5 million).
Expansion work on the plant is scheduled for conclusion within seven months. (macauhub)
