Luanda, Angola, 5 Oct – State oil company Sonangol Thursday announced the discovery of a new oil well, together with Britain’s BP, in the Angola sea, with confirmed potential of 5,000 barrels per day.
In a statement Sonangol said that the new well, located in block 31 in ultra-deep waters, and is the 19th discovery by BP in that block, some 350 kilometres northeast of Luanda.
Sonangol is the concession-holder for block 31 and has a stake of 20 percent.
BP is the operator with 26.67 percent, and the other partners are Esso Exploration with 25 percent, Statoil with 13.33 percent, Marathon International with 10 percent and Tepa with 5 percent. (macauhub)
