Praia, Cape Verde, 6 Oct – Venezuela plans to install an oil refinery in Cape Verde, the Cape Verdean Foreign Minister said last week on announcing the signing of a deal in the energy sector with that Latin American country.
José Brito, who represented Cape Verde at the recent South America-Africa summit in Venezuela, said that the deal also outlined the installation of a fuel supply warehouse on the archipelago, which is located on the route between the American, African and European continents.
The Cape Verdean Foreign Minister also said he had invited the President of Venezuela to visit the archipelago, an occasion that would be used to sign new agreements with Venezuela, which is one of the world’s biggest oil producers.
According to Brito, Cape Verde’s invitation was met favourably by Hugo Chavez, and the country’s diplomatic services are expected to work to set a date for the visit. (macauhub)
